Hub 21 is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced CORU-registered Speech & Language Therapist to provide services to children and teenagers with Down syndrome and their families.
Location: Hub 21 (formerly the Down Syndrome Centre North East)
Units 15–18, CTek 1 Building, Riverside Road, Carrickmacross,
Co. Monaghan, A81 FY61
Hours: Minimum two days per month
Contract Type: Contract for Services (Independent Contractor)
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing

About Hub 21
Hub 21 (formerly the Down Syndrome Centre North East) provides a range of developmental, educational, and therapeutic supports for children and teenagers (o to 18 years) with Down syndrome and their families. This is a Contract for Services (Independent Contractor) position and is not an employed role. The successful applicant will provide services for a minimum of two days per month, with opportunities for additional hours as demand grows.

About the Role
The Speech & Language Therapist will:
Conduct assessments and provide evidence-based intervention for children and teenagers with Down syndrome.
Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions.
Develop therapy goals in partnership with children, parents, carers, and other professionals.
Provide practical recommendations and home programmes to support communication development.
Liaise with families, schools, preschools, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
Maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with professional standards.
Participate in quarterly multidisciplinary team meetings.
Support communication across all environments through a functional, child-centred approach.
Promote and support the use of Lámh and other augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) approaches where appropriate.
Contribute to workshops, parent education sessions, camps, and service development initiatives as required.
Essential Requirements
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
Current CORU registration.
Experience working with children and young people.
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to family-centred practice and collaborative working.
Applicants must operate as independent contractors and hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance (certificate to be provided within 30 days of agreement).
Ability to work independently as a contractor with own supervision in place.
Willingness to undergo Garda Vetting in line with Hub 21 policy.
Desirable Experience
Experience working with children with Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, or developmental delays.
Experience in AAC, Lámh, early communication, speech sound disorders, language development, and social communication.
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of current evidence-based approaches in paediatric Speech & Language Therapy.
