This March, Hub 21 is proud to host its first ever Down Syndrome Awareness Exhibition: Grow. Thrive. Shine.
Based in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Hub 21 supports over 140 children and young people with Down syndrome and their families across the North East — including Monaghan, Cavan, Louth, Meath, Armagh and beyond.
This exhibition is a celebration of the children at the heart of our community — their personalities, their achievements, and their potential.
What You’ll See
The exhibition features 44 incredible children, captured beautifully by our photographer Dalia, who has documented our journey since 2018. Each photograph offers a glimpse into the individuality, joy and strength of the young people who attend Hub 21.
But this exhibition is about more than photographs.
It is about:
Early words spoken with the support of speech and language therapy
First steps taken with confidence
Friendships formed in group sessions
Families finding connection and reassurance
Teenagers building independence and self-belief
Behind every image is a story of growth.
Why March Matters
The exhibition runs throughout March as we lead up to World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March (21/3) — a date chosen to represent the triplication of the 21st chromosome. It is a global day to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and celebrate the achievements of people with Down syndrome.
For us at Hub 21, it is also a time to open ourselves to the wider community and invite people to see the impact of their local charity in action.
The Work Behind the Smiles
Hub 21 provides a range of free and subsidised services, including early intervention, dedicated therapies, educational supports and community programmes. Families often come to us at a time when they need guidance, reassurance and practical support.
What we offer is not just therapy sessions.
We offer community.
We offer confidence.
We offer opportunity.
With new babies born in recent weeks and new families continuing to join us, our community continues to grow.
Why Attend?
When you visit Grow. Thrive. Shine, you are not just viewing an exhibition — you are witnessing what is possible when inclusion is prioritised and community support is strong.
You will see:
The impact of local fundraising and sponsorship
The importance of early intervention
The confidence that grows when children are supported to reach their potential
And perhaps most importantly, you will see that Down syndrome does not define possibility.
How You Can Support
There are many ways to be part of the Hub 21 story:

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to continue providing essential services to the families who depend on us.
Every visit.
Every share.
Every act of support.
It all makes a difference.
We warmly invite you to come along, take your time, and experience Grow. Thrive. Shine. for yourself.
Because when children are given the right support, they don’t just grow —they thrive and they shine.
